He returned home to DE in 2009 and continued his training with Ronnie Wuest at the Academy. Lewis has competed in numerous competitions across the East coast and locally during his time with the Academy (NAGA & IBJJF). Lewis tested in Miami FL in 2016 for his Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt where he received his belt personally from Royce Gracie.
Wendy Rios Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt (Youth & Adult Jiu-Jitsu Instructor)
Wendy began training in 2015 after watching her daughter train.
Wendy has been a dedicated member and teacher at the Academy for many years. She tested in Raleigh NC in 2026 for her Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt where she received her belt personally from Royce Gracie. Wendy has the distinct honor of being the first Female Royce Gracie Black Belt in DE.
Patrick Courtney Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt (Youth & Adult Instructor)
Patrick began training in 2015 alongside his son & daughter.
Jiu-Jitsu has always been a family activity for Patrick as he continues to train with his son and daughter all these years later. Patrick tested in Minneapolis MN in 2025 for his Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt where he received his belt personally from Royce Gracie.
Mike Cowell Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt (Youth & Adult Instructor)
Mike was an active competitor as a Blue & Purple Belt winning many of his competitions (Fugi, NAGA and Good Fight). Mike continues to train and teach classes at the Academy as he continues his Jiu-Jitsu journey.
